Rhinoplasty
What is it?
Rhinoplasty or nose surgery, most commonly known as nose job, is the surgical procedure performed to correct the function (due to trauma or birth defects) or to improve the appearance of the nose. Rhinoplasty can reshape the nose tip, change the nose profile, the size of the nose, the width of the nose bridge, the position of the nostrils or correct asymmetrical traits. It can also correct a deviated nasal septum.
How is it done?
Closed rhinoplasty is permormed via incisions inside the nostrils. Open rhinoplasty is done with an additional incision across the columella (the skin wall that separates the nostrils).
After the incisions are done, the skin is then separated from the underlying tissue, and, depending on the nature and location of the correction, cartilage or bone are reshaped with a scalpel or a chisel inside. Sometimes it is necessary to place additional cartilage to reshape the nose. This can be harvested from the patient’s septum, ears or ribs.
Rhinoplasty can be done with general or local anesthesia and can take between 1 and 2 hours.
Is it for me?

In general terms, good candidates for rhinoplasty should:
